SC Says Bureaucracy Has Gone into Inertia Schools to Remain Shut Till Further Orders in Delhi

According to the Ministry of Earth Sciences’ air quality monitor SAFAR. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has decided to shut schools and other educational institutions, and ban the entry of vehicles from outside.

It has also decided to extend work from home for Delhi government employees and the ban on construction and demolition activities till Sunday. “A total of 1,000 private CNG buses will be hired to strengthen the public transport system. The process will start Thursday,” Rai said at a press conference after a high-level meeting with officials of the department concerned.

The city’s air quality was again in the ‘severe’ category with the 24-hour average AQI recorded at 403 after remaining in the ‘very poor’ category till Tuesday morning, when the AQI was recorded at 396. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.

On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi had told the Supreme Court that it was ready to take steps like complete lockdown to control deterioration of air quality.
